FAQ: Frequenty Asked Questions

What is OHH?

OHH is the Open Hardware Hub. We strive to be the number one place people go to connect with other builders and share their open source creations with the world.

What's so special about open source hardware?

Open source hardware is great because it's something you can build yourself. Imagine this: You see a really cool project, an electric bicycle, and you you want to try to build it yourself. The problem is the author didn't post the steps he took to build it or the parts he used. That's closed source hardware, and it's lame. Open source hardware gives you all the information you need, like a parts list, schematics/mechanical drawings, and step-by-step instructions on how to do it yourself. With enough time and resources, anyone can do it.

Is this site just about electronics?

No! Mechanical projects are also welcome! If you have a laser cutter pattern for something cool you made, submit it as a project! Got a design for a robot chasis? Submit it! Want to share how you built a robot that solves Rubik's cubes? Go for it!
