Knight Rider Lights

The red flashing lights on the front of the car KITT in the popular Knight Rider series are an iconic visual effect. You can easily recreate this effect with this open source hardware project. Using a couple simple components, we'll light up a series of LEDs in order giving the illusion that the light is bouncing back and forth from side to side.

This open source hardware project contains no parts.

Steps

. Insert diodes

Insert a pair of 1N4001 diodes as shown. These diodes connect to the third LED from the top.

. Insert diodes

Insert a pair of 1N4001 diodes as shown. These diodes connect to the fourth LED from the top.

Insert a pair of 1N4001 diodes as shown. These diodes connect to the fifth LED from the top.

. Connect 9V Battery

Connect a 9V battery as shown. The red wire is +9V, and the black wire is ground. Watch the LEDs light up in sequence and "bounce" back and forth.
